Workforce Initiatives
Our goal with workforce initiatives is to build a sustainable training infrastructure across our region that can become self-sufficient in meeting the personnel requirements of small and medium-sized companies. BFTP/CNP supports training and development services that are industry-specific, such as those found in the Factory Built Housing arena or the Tool and Die cluster in Northwestern PA.
Our role is helping fund the establishment of the consortia rather than the actual training services. These consortia are typically comprised of manufacturers and technology-based companies; service providers such as schools, colleges, and universities and service organizations such as chambers of business and industry or economic development organizations, and can often leverage other funding sources (such as the Commonwealth’s Customized Job Training Program) to provide the actual training services.
Factory Built Housing Center
The Factory Built Housing Center at Penn College of Technology has effectively leveraged academic, government, and industry resources to provide high quality training, consulting, research, product development and technology transfer that will enhance the skill levels of employees in this sector, while increasing the competitive ability of the industry in general. The strategy for the Factory Built Housing Center is multi-faceted, but primarily it is charged with leading workforce development initiatives by expanding the existing training programs.
